When it comes to skiing big lines in the Utah backcountry, building booters in Flagstaff or heading out from Alta Ski Resort for a cliff hucking session at Rocky Point,
the Utah Avalanche Center is the source. Their mountain weather forecasts and current snow conditions along with the daily avalanche advisory are top notch. The observers spend long hours in the mountains and get up a lot earlier than any of us to keep people safe with current information about the snowpack and the dangers that exist. Most of this work is thankless, not to mention the shoe-string budget they operate under. (we know what that’s like)
So last month when the 14th annual Friends of the Utah Avalanche Center fundraiser rolled around, Bluehouse couldn’t pass up the opportunity to kick down a pair of 179 MR to help raise funds at the silent auction.
Hosted and staffed by employees of Black Diamond, the silent auction tent was packed while outside the beverages were flowing, music crankin and the excellent eats from Rico.
When I last checked around 8pm that night the bidding on the MR was at $200 and there were more than a few people asking about these skis they had never seen before. An unnamed Black Diamond employee was extra stoked about the MR’s shape and light weight - perhaps he’ll be trading in his BD skis this year.
If you were the lucky winner of these skis drop a comment and let us know what you scored the skis for? Either way we’re stoked to have helped be a part of raising over $30,000 for the UAC.
