The results are in. Saturday’s railjam went off and was a killer time for all involved.Khai Krepeala walked away with first prize at the event scoring a new pair of BH skis and a gift certificate to tramdock.com. Following Khai’s sick performance were Erik Hughes, John Ware, and Bryan Rossiter taking second through fourth. The Grom award went to 13 year old CJ Bode, and Brian Allen scored the best costume in his sharp threads.

blueSeeing as I am a magnificent writer I will effectively summarize the last couple weeks in a very brief, 2 paragraph “blog.” So we headed out on Sunday morning (Jan 27th) from Salt Lake to make our way out to Copper Mountain for the US Freeskiing Open. A caravan of 3 cars carrying our crew of 9 finally rolled out at about 11 AM right as a big storm moved in. After 3-4 hours in a McDonalds, 3-4 hours in a gas station/convenience store, and about 9 hours of slow driving we got in at 2 in the morning. Unfortunately, on the first run of the first sunny day I came in 2nd in the “Who can separate their shoulder first” game me and John have been playing this season. He beat me by almost a two months by separating his on December 14th, myself finishing well below par on February 8th. So I headed out to the first freeskiing competition of the year this week in Telluride, CO. This was the first time in the three years I have been there that the mountain had good enough snow to ski the lines we all want to ski. After day 1 I was in 4th place going into finals, I decided I wanted to take a little more conservative line my first run and not give up any ground to the field. I laid down a solid first run which put me in 5th place going into the super finals with only one point separating me and 2nd place. I took a tumble right out of the gate and then laid down the best competition run of my life, but the fall was enough to take me out of the competition. This moment was a really tough one to swallow because I had Bluehouse’s and my first podium in sight. The tour’s next stop is Squaw Valley, CA next week and this situation has fueled my fire and I’m ready to stand on that podium this season. See you next week in Squaw!

Alright so this is my first blogpost / update thingy. Ryan and I are heading out to the US Freeskiing Open tomorrow so that will be good. Riding on the MRs this year has been so fun. This Saturday, February 9 Bluehouse Skis will be at the Wildcat Base at Alta Ski Resort for an epic demo day.  With as much snow as is pounding the Wastach Front, these are ideal conditions in which to test skis that were made with this kind of snow in mind.  With some luck, you may be able to test out some of our 08-09 model skis which specs are yet to be disclosed to the public.    

 In addition, we should have some tele-demos setups for all you free heelers.

The BambooSticks by Simen Stori

We wanted to thank everyone for all the submitted designs as well as the thousands of votes. We were really overwhelmed at the response we received. Over the next few weeks we will work with Simen on the design and get it ready for one of our new 2009 skis.  We will update everyone on the progress of our new fleet for next season. We are also talking with some of the other contestants about possibly incorporating their designs into future Bluehouse skis.
