Deals.  We all love a deal.  That's why Bluehouse kicks down sticks at prices other ski manfuacturers laugh at.

Why? Because aside from ripping deep pow or buttering onto that down-flat-down on skis that you love is the stoke that also comes from knowing you didn't have to sell your life's possesions and a few things from your dad's garage to afford them.

I'm Claiming michigan's first bluhouse ride! the snow fell light, but not too light. I woke up this morning, looked out the window, and realized my seasonal depression had been lifted! The dusting was enough for me to set up a jib in the backyard. Thanks Bluehouse! you made the ILLEST skis ever!

I traveled to Tahoe this weekend and had a good time with Andy Davis and his posse. Andy arranged the Poorboyz premiere in the showroom of the Montbleu Resort in South Lake Tahoe--one of the nicest venues I've been to. This was my second time in that show hall. The first time I ever went there was in Summer '01, Counting Crows.

Needless to say, both times I've been there I was surrounded by high energy. The Tahoe crowd is ready to go for the winter season. Even as we showed the film, there was snow falling on the Sierras. Even the lake looked a drab gray from a lowering chill factor that will inevitably turn the town into a picturesque Ski, USA.

Bluehouse gives a shout to Andy and co. for inviting it to the show. Thanks to everybody who came to chat with me at the show. And congratulations to Dane (didn't get the last name) for winning a brand new pair of Bluehouse Mavens. Enjoy those.

When I woke up this morning the first thing I thought was, my skis are suppose to arrive today! 4 boring hours of school later, I race home and sure enough, right as I drive in my driveway a long package is waiting at my door step. My MR's have finally arrived! These babies are so hot looking! Now I just need some snow.....But for now I'll just be snuggleing with these skis, whispering sweet nothings into their ears, waiting for the day they get to be unleashed!!

The snow gods were smiling on Friday.  I'd been hearing from tons of people how deep and good the early season snow was but I'd been stuck at work and school all week.  I got to work on Friday hoping to maybe take off a bit early and take a quick hike up at Alta.  I got to work and the computer network I use was down and so I waited and waited for it to come back up.  After about 2 hours I got an email saying that it was down indefinitely and my manager told me to just go home.  Fortunately for me Dan had told me that there were 2 unused passes sitting up at Snowbird so I cruised on up with a roomate in time to take a few laps on the Tram.  The snow was firm but good and I couldn't complain about skiing groomers on November 7.  Hopefully the early snow is a sign of things to come.

I was at the Park City Ski Team ski swap which is the biggest ski swap here in Utah.  We had a couple pairs of the 07-08 Districts left which we opted to put into the swap and give a couple of lucky buyers the chance to snatch them up for cheap.

When I was checking them in, a middle aged man who was helping me commented "wow, these are fat skis!" after which he then made the following comment while I was writing down the price of $200 for each ski. (yea, I said cheap!)

Yesterday I knocked off day number 1 of skiing in the Tetons for the 08/09 season. Hiking around in the snow, making turns, post-skiing tallboys- it’s back!! Sort of anyways...

Unlike the lucky skiers in Utah, the snowpack is still very thin up here in Jackson. Lately I’ve been spending countless hours looking at snowpack data on SNOTEL (basically watching the snowpack fluctuate between 9 and 11 inches) and hitting the refresh button on the Teton Pass and JHMR web cams, waiting to see flakes flying and for visual evidence that skiing is possible.

We have gotten one decent storm so far, but just about everyone I’ve talked to has scoffed at me when I mention the idea of going skiing. Responses I’ve gotten so far: “Wear body armor”, “You’re going to break your ankle”, and “Dude you’re an idiot, I’m gonna laugh when you get hurt.”

There was even an article published in this weekends Jackson Hole Daily entitled, Experts: Despite snow, not time to ski just yet. The article opens by saying, “while Jackson Hole’s amped bro-brahs already have scraped their sticks down Telemark Bowl on Teton Pass, local experts say the mountains need a little more snow before mere mortals break out their skis and boards.”  That one made me laugh a little bit.

All of the doubters are probably right, but I went skiing anyways. I probably hit 30 rocks. But it was pretty awesome to be out in the snow and making a few legitimate turns. And I didn’t break my ankle either.

I rush home during lunch, Nothing. I Rush home after classes. Nothing. After work, I head straight to the porch, still not to find any big brown boxes that hold my happiness. I ordered My Mr 171's on 09/26 and I live in Michigan. Any idea when they will get here? I just want to get cozy with them in front of the fireplace and whisper sweet nothings to them.

As many of you may know, Utah has received some bad press lately as a result of certain grassroots efforts of the LDS church to fight the Proposition 8 Constitutional Amendment that recently passed in California making marriage exclusively between a man and woman.  Now certain organizations are calling for a boycott on Utah tourism, including Utah skiing and the Sundance film festival.

When I first read the article located at http://www.mercurynews.com/breakingnews/ci_10927375 I kept waiting for a reference to Bluehouse since we have become so synonomous with Utah skiing (please note the sarcasm).  Anyhow, although I respect the GLBT community mobilizing their efforts, I respectfully disagree with the recent approach to boycott Utah skiing. It's like punishing "peanut butter" for something "grape jelly" did.  Even though the two are somehow inextricably intertwined, they are not one and the same.

On the other hand, boycott of Utah ski tourism means more fresh tracks for me....
