Introducing The Shoots

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Bluehouse spent countless hours throughout the past season talking to the ski community. We can accredit the creation of our two new skis to the people who spoke up (a special shout out to the TGR and NS crews). The Shoots is the first of two new skis to be added to the Bluehouse fleet.

Fair warning: The Shoots is not for the novice skier. Some of the words used by testers to describe The Shoots’ personality were “charging,” “made for speed,” “weapons,” “killer-blaster” (a BH favorite), and “for serious screaming.” The Shoots brags the stiffest flex of all the BH fleet. The profile was designed to deliver comfort at top speeds. The rockered tips will keep your skis afloat any snow type and the nearly-flat tail will direct you where you want to go: downhill. In other words, The Shoots were bred for straightlining. Bluehouse felt it appropriate to name the ski after the bamboo plant’s growing pattern, but also likes the subtle reminder to its owner that this ski belongs in the chutes and similar terrain. The graphics were created by Simen Stori during the design contest last season. The art fit perfectly with Bluehouse’s plans for the ski. Enjoy The Shoots.

Introducing The New District

Monday, August 18th, 2008

The 2008 Bluehouse District is tougher and more versatile. It also comes in two lengths: 187 and 176. We had an overwhelming request last season to stiffen the District, and that’s what we’ve done. We promise less chatter on hard pack, more stability at top speeds, and less back-seat riding on the stomp. The red light from last year’s District was the most talked about part of the graphic. It’s the main graphic feature for this season. Just like the MR, the District has rounded top edges and a tougher top layer to cut down on chipping. Enjoy.

Hey Guys!

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Alright so this is my first blogpost / update thingy. Ryan and I are heading out to the US Freeskiing Open tomorrow so that will be good. Riding on the MRs this year has been so fun. The skis are so fun. Super poppy and light, cant really ask for more. I am kind of short on time right now (packing) but here is a link to ClownSchool’s most recent edit! Check it out!

The BambooSticks by Simen Stori

We wanted to thank everyone for all the submitted designs as well as the thousands of votes. We were really overwhelmed at the response we received. Over the next few weeks we will work with Simen on the design and get it ready for one of our new 2009 skis.  We will update everyone on the progress of our new fleet for next season. We are also talking with some of the other contestants about possibly incorporating their designs into future Bluehouse skis.

Bluehouse Sponsors TNT Event

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

We met the guys at Thrillhead Creations last week at the Schralptown premiere. They were very good to us. They gave us a couple copies of the film and some swag to liberally host Thrillhead events. We jumped all over it and showed the film last night as part of TNT film series.

TNT (Tuesday Night Teasers), headed up by Caitlin Barker and Caitlin Morgan, is a network of SLC skiers who gather weekly to watch ski films through the fall in preparation for the upcoming ski season.

Open fires, hot bevs, and a great film made it a decent scene. Bluehouse thanks the Kensington girls for letting us use their yard: Erin, Jeanette, Becca, and Lyndsey are some of Bluehouse’s finest friends.

Bluehouse also sends a huge GET WELL SOON to Ms. Caitlin Barker who had knee surgery yesterday morning. She was sorely missed at this event.

The Untechnology of Bamboo

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Brad Baldwin of RockyMountainVoices.com visited us and placed a Vidcast interview on the site. Brad first found interest in Bluehouse because of our use of bamboo for our cores. He calls what we do the “untechnology of bamboo.”
