Problem/Solution (T-shirt contest ideas)

Ok well ovbiously people have been flooding single shirts they think are cool and giving them 5 start votes and bashing the ones they dont like, or maybe they do like them they just want the other shirt to win more.

Solutions:

1. email varification for accounts-  Most forumns and other websites make you confirm your email address to activate your account.  This doesnt solve the problem but just makes it a million times harder to create an account and vote.

2. change the voting mechanism- have it be a simple thumbs up, meaning that if that shirt won they would want to buy it, and if they dont want to buy it they simple dont vote, and then dont post designs in any particular order, just show the more popular ones at the top of a sort of grid view rather than a list.

combining these two ideas would just change it all.  You (bluehouse) would then have a better idea of how a shirt will sell when it goes on sale.  And rather than ranking them you can just pick your favorite one that seems will sell the best from your perspective.

For example had the voting been for which ones I would potentially buy I would just vote have voted for the Bird on wire ones, also the Duckhunt one (mine), and the Steve/Robot one.  If any of the othes win I not buy the shirt, but if one of those ones win I probably will buy the shirt.

oh ya if that big blue ones

oh ya if that big blue ones with the huge diagonal logo won I would buy that one too

for me my favorites go in this oreder

1.Steve/Robot

2.DuckHung

3.Huge logo (above mentioned)

4.All the Nickflynn ones.

I agree, something should be

I agree, something should be done. There's too much random fluctuation for there not to be people cheating in one way or another. I like skibum04's suggestions and think that they would both help a ton.

This other local contest has a simple thumbs up/down voting system

Keep it up this contest rocks!

Speaking of cheating. How

Speaking of cheating. How did I get 30 bad votes in 5 minutes when it took a week to get the first 50 votes? Can someone explain?

ya thas funny, but why would

ya thas funny, but why would you have 50 votes in the first place.... shirts that have been up way longer than yours dont evern have 30.....

I was noticing that once the new theme has been announced some ppl jump on getting a design up quick which is nice but they seem to be the ones who get all the votes and those who jump on with a design last don't get as many votes even tho they have a good design.

I was thinking the voting should start on Sunday or Monday and give people a chance to submit designs so when ppl go to vote there are more than one design to vote on so that not just the first designs get all the votes.

We looked into this when we

We looked into this when we were first creating the contest and we decided to go with our current format.  Last week we saw a design that was posted on the last day of the contest almost win. We still feel that in the end people will vote for the design they want to buy.

If you have a design in the current contest we suggest you get the word out about it.  One contest submitter created an event on Facebook and invited all his friends to vote for his design.
