Good Design - Bad Luck Review by Oregon

I purchased the 189 Maestros and they really are a great all mountain ski. I mounted 22Designs' AXL telemark binding and the ski-binding combination seems outstanding. The Maestros have performed well on hard ice, slush, powder and some moderate backcountry tours. These wider skis provide excellent stability in telemark turns with great power transfer. I wish we had more snow this winter to speak more on the rocker, but it's been a weak winter. My single complaint is that after only my second session, one rear tip started to delaminate. About 1.5 inches, ~0.5cm deep started to separate on the back right tip. The fastener on the G3 Alpinist skins I used do put a lot of torque on that spot, but I was still disappointed of the fast wear/tear from an expected use. Minimal, reparable damage, but still a bummer. Regardless the cause, Bluehouse Customer Service had a very quick response and reimbursed me $20 for the cost of the repair. (Posted on 12/30/11)

Last year I bought the Maestros from Bluehoue and could have not been more pleased not only with the ski but with the service. I originally had ordered the Districts but they promptly responded that they were on backorder - I could wait for them - get my money back - or get the Maestros for same price - which I did. I am thrilled with the ski itself as it handles a wide variety of conditions on the hill.
I was so pleased with my experience I bought the MR171s with bindings this season though I have not had a chance to ski them yet. Again the service was exceptional and they spent the time making sure the boot size and Din setting was correct and they were delivered promptly. I can't wait to ski them.
