All Mountain Skis

All mountain skis have earned the name of the “one ski quiver” because – if you are planning on owning just one pairs of skis – they provide the most versatile option. All-mountain skis can handle any conditions but are not ideal for any one single condition. Whether it’s a powder day, hasn’t snowed for weeks, is a sheet of ice, or is heavy spring snow, mountain skis do it all. They are the jack-of-all-trades of the ski world. To achieve this versatility, mountain skis generally range from 80mm (Bluehouse Antics, MR) to 100mm underfoot (but can get wider if you live in an area where softer conditions prevail), then range from 100mm to 110mm+(Bluehouse District, Precinct). If you will only own one pair of skis at a time, then you should look into an all-mountain ski. Look for a ski that matches the resort you ski at and your preferred ski conditions. It you ski mostly on trail or bumps, a ski with a skinnier waist is better. However, if you ski mostly off piste, a fatter ski is the better choice. In the end, all-mountain skis are built to suit any condition. While most beginner and novice skiers learn to ski on all-mountain skis, even the most advanced skiers have at least one all-mountain ski in their quiver.
