Andy Jacobsen was born in the shadow of the Wasatch mountains and was drawn into those mountains at a young age. He began alpine skiing as a small child and started rock climbing as a teenager. At age 15, he left the comforts of his alpine skis and began what was to become a lifelong exploration of the sport of telemark skiing. It has not always been easy and Andy definitely has the scars to tell, but the challenge kept him coming back for more.

Andy's focus lies in skiing big, steep lines fast and fluidly. Andy is on the cutting edge of big mountain freeheel skiing year in and year out. Appearing in 12 ski films as well as Powder, Skiing, Backcountry and Telemark Skier magazines,  Andy is a veteran at throwing down big lines in front of the camera.

Andy has been lucky enough to hone his skills skiing and climbing all over the planet. He has skied and climbed in the Cordillera Blanca range of Peru, Patagonia, many different ranges in AK, the Tetons and extensively throughout the Wasatch. Part ski mountaineer, part big mountain charger, Andy is a true "all-arounder", he is equally at home skiing down an icy 60 degree slope as he is throwing front flips off of 50 foot cliffs.

Last year, for the first time in over a decade, Andy periodically locked his heel down in order to shed some pounds off of his setup to pursue longer objectives. He and Noah Howell completed the first known single day ascent and descent of the four major lines off of Kessler Peak for a total vertical gain of over 14,000 feet. Andy also raced in his first Rando race, the Power of Four race in Aspen. The Power of Four is a 12,000 vertical, 27 mile race where teams of two race the  entire course together.  Andy and his partner, Nick Devore, placed 14th.  Inspired by the race Andy plans race more but more importantly to take the endurance, speed and efficiency gained in rando racing into the real mountains for some speedy ascents or ultra long link-ups.

Inspired by so many mountains from steep spines in Alaska to gigantic faces in the Himalayas, Andy is bound to stay busy in the coming years.
